Child Abuse Prevention

Licking Valley Community Action Program provides child abuse prevention services in ten counties Bath, Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Robertson, and Rowan counties.  The program, called Community Collaboration for Children, helps families reduce the likelihood of abuse or neglect through education, referral, support, and even financial assistance. Families benefit from the services of a trained in-home therapist who provides parenting, financial literacy, and nutrition education according to the family’s need. The therapist may help identify other community resources the family needs such as employment, post-secondary education, mental health, or primary health services.

In addition to in-home therapy, staff organize Regional Councils to promote child abuse prevention activities in the region. The Councils meet monthly and include guest speakers, training, and networking activities. New participants are always welcome.
